Brasenose was founded in 1509. The Brasenose College Boat Club is one of the oldest rowing clubs in the world. Undergraduates registered an almost 100% satisfaction with life at the college.
The name of the college comes from a brass knocker which was once on the door of the medieval hall on which the college was built. Today the brass knocker can be found in the college dinging hall. It resembles a nose from which a knocker is attached.
The north of the college stretches to the high street while the south side runs alongside Brasenose lane. The entrance to the college is on Radcliffe Square where the Radcliffe Camera stands.
