Oxford
Oriel College was founded in 1326 and was originally known as the House of the Blessed Mary at Oxford. In 1329 a building called La Oriole was built in the first quadrangle with a projecting window, an oriel window, so the name stuck and eventually over time the college is now known as Oriel College.
