SELECTED WORKS

The market is in many ways, a microcosm of the world in which we live in. Myriad accents, languages and cultures combine to create experiences and perspectives which chime and differ from that of our own.

I propose  to create ongoing  pieces of artwork  which make up the different aspects of the Oxford market on Gloucester Green: traders, visitors and those responsible for assembling and take down the stalls. The art will be created in situ on Market days using bought and discarded materials which I find on the stalls and bins. The work will represent the passage of time as seen through the day to day trading of the market. And just like the stalls themselves the artwork can be packed away or taken home.

The sounds of the market and individual stalls will be used as a backdrop to the gallery experience in the forthcoming exhibition in November 2020.
